FREE CREDIT SCORE
BRIEF:
Free credit scores are the bread & butter of what Credit Karma has to offer. The ask was to create a commercial that could out perform an older Credit Karma TV spot entitled “Sisters,” that had been running for eternity.
SOLVE:
We made FIVE commercials that out performed “Sisters” and sent the siblings off into the sunset.
BAD ROOMMATES AND NEIGHBORS
BRIEF:
A good credit score can help you get a better rental or a new house.
SOLVE:
When you need to move because of a bad neighbor or roommate, Credit Karma can help you build your credit.
MARKETPLACE
BRIEF:
Introduce new financial products beyond credit scores.
SOLVE:
Demonstrate how credit karma eases the anxieties that come with shopping for financial products.
MORE THAN A SCORE
BRIEF:
Historically, Credit Karma is known as place to check your credit score, heck it’s in the name. Credit Karma has so much more to offer nowadays.
SOLVE:
Two campaigns highlighting different product offerings. One in the vein of our traditional comedy tone, a second that is voiceover driven & visually intriguing.
URBAN MYTHS
BRIEF:
Dispel common myths about credit monitoring.
SOLVE:
Use common urban myths to dispel said myths.
CREDIT KARMA MONEY
BRIEF:
Introduce Credit Karma’s new debit card and explain ‘Instant Karma’ - when you make a purchase with the Credit Karma debit card, you could be instantly reimbursed.
SOLVE:
We tapped into the human truth, when you get something for free, you tell everybody about it until the end of time.
KARMA GUARANTEE
BRIEF:
When you apply for a credit card that has the Karma Guarantee, Credit Karma will give you $50 if you don’t get approved.
SOLVE:
Three spots with three different ways in on this new product offering; featuring a bad haircut, a credit card fairy & an angry crystal shopkeeper.
HOMEOWNERS
BRIEF:
Beyond credit scores, Credit Karma is a great place for home owners to track their home equity and shop for a home equity line of credit (HELOC), to make the most out of their home.
SOLVE:
We told the age old story of the mother/son-in-law dynamic with a twist. Utilizing the story telling of ‘Drunk History’ meets ‘The Affair,’ we tell the tale of a son-in-law using Credit Karma to get a HELOC in order to make an in-law unit out back. One spot is told through the perspective of the son-in-law, while the other is told through the eyes of the mother-in-law.
CREDIT KARMA TAX
BRIEF:
Filing with CK Tax is 100% free from start to finish, it’s super easy and has a max refund guarantee.
SOLVE:
We turned the dreaded tax season into a season to be celebrated. We made two video versions to coincide with the holidays being celebrated when these ran.
We also had a blast celebrating the season in social.

While at Credit Karma we completely overhauled the look and feel of the brand.
As GCD, I ran several verticals within the walls of Credit Karma. Each have their own look and feel/voice, while remaining within the overall brand guidelines.
